Alternatives to Rit dye that I included in the kits to dye the tags. The students have suggested that worked for them:
Vanilla Extract
Tea Bags
Soy sauce and water
watercolor paint
Tattered Angels, Shimmerz or any spray ink
Cream Cardstock 1 sheet 8 1/2 x 11
Aqua Cardstock: 1 sheet 12x12 (American Crafts Robin's Egg)
Light Pink Felt (8 X 10)
Cosmo Cricket: Girl Friday paper
Tim Holtz:
crackle paint: worn lipstick or any sort of pink.
Metal Rim Tag (just over 2")
Manila tags: (like the one on the cover of the book)
7-9 tags measuring around 2" 3/4 x 4" 3/4
1 tag at 3"x6"
American Crafts Letter Rubons "Marilyn"
Hambly Vintage Banner (brown)
Chipboard flowers
Glitter Brads or any brads
1" Metal Ring
Embroidery thread & needle or sewing machine (any color thread)
Additional Supplies needed for class:
Paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive, paper piercer for brads. As well as Spray Adhesive, stapler, needle and embroidery thread or sewing machine, printer, exacto knife with sharp blade, ruler, modge podge adhesive, foam brush, 2" circle punch, pen, & vintage book with a spine of at least 1 1/4" & the book should be at least 5" wide x 7.5" high.
